Historical: Pima County was one of four Arizona counties established by the first Territorial Legislature in 1864. It then extended from New Mexico Territory on the east to Yuma County on the west. Beginning in 1881, the county boundaries were reduced by the creation of Cochise, Maricopa, Graham, Pinal, and Santa Cruz counties.
